Whenever I take a moment to reflect on the challenges I need to face or have overcome, my thoughts sometimes drift to the teachings of the ancient Greek philosophers, particularly Socrates, often regarded as the father of modern education. Despite leaving no written records behind, his teachings were passed on from generation to generation. Socrates advocated for the acknowledgment of our ignorance as the first step toward true learning, highlighting that genuine wisdom lies in understanding the limits of our knowledge: "The only true wisdom is in knowing you know nothing." This wisdom holds especially true in our world where we often navigate unfamiliar technological tools and advances, such as new sites or AI, where we begin with a blank slate and must forge our own unique paths. Socrates' emphasis on self-awareness and acknowledging one's ignorance as a prerequisite for true learning resonated deeply with my becoming in CALL. Just as Socrates encouraged individuals to recognize their own limitations, embracing the fact that there is always more to learn, navigating the world of CALL often involved a similar recognition of the vastness of knowledge and the need for continuous growth. Consequently, my transformations in CALL during this session has been profoundly shaped by my disruptions, my thoughts, my strengths, and power. I hope you enjoy exploring my website!

​For my multimedia assemblage, I chose the words intentionality and meaningful to describe the key takeaways of this course. These words represent the common theme that came up when reflecting on my relationship with technology and how it has changed throughout this course.

Second language teaching is constantly evolving due to ongoing developments in new technology. As new technologies emerge, educators must adapt their pedagogical approaches and stay current with research findings on best practices. This assignment explores the ways that I have grown in my own Teacher Becoming in CALL to bring more effective and engaging language learning experiences to my second language learners.

My Multimedia Reflective Assemblage

The following assemblage includes various media types that work to explore the personal transformations that occurred throughout the Technology, Languages and Education course at the University of Ottawa. The major elements that are discussed include equity, sustainability and multimodality. Equity is a common topic regarding classroom culture, however the way in which technology can assist in that endeavour is not as discussed, despite the many applications and implications it can have. The development and creation of technology has many negative environmental impacts, resulting in the need to design and use technology with intention, in order to increase sustainability. The multimodality of technology, and the resources readily available, can aid educators in teaching to all learners, regardless of their abilities, learning preferences or language. These elements and more have had great, positive impacts on my journey as a teacher becoming in CALL, inviting insight and greater perspective as my journey in education continues.
